If the Logicboard will not power up the USB Port, then there is a Hardware failure / lockout.

This indicates that the Logicboard is not sending any communications to the Windows7 USB Port.

Forgot the paper towel was under the printhead.

The next day I powered up, red ink light on & green power button either continuous or flashing, uncertain.

I read that all 3 components needs to be replaced in order to prevent power transistors to burn again (2 transistors + ph data cable + ph itself). I can find no firmware or firmware update for the R2880 on the Epson U.S. The printer does recognize when a new non-PK or MK cartridge is inserted to replace an empty one. I have a project coming up that requires using different paper types, so being able to get the printer to recognize the proper black cartridge is essential. Neither does various combinations of turning off the printer and rebooting.ДЄny other suggestions would be most appreciated before I give up and buy a new printer. Did this (actually twice) and it did not solve the problem. Someone on another forum suggested running nozzle cleaning and then rebooting. The sw is the latest for W7 32-bit that is available on the Epson U.S. The last time was after a re-download of the sw.

I've reinstalled the printer utilities and driver 3 times, with no change, doing an install in as clean a software environment as I can create and still have the computer work. When I change between the PK and MK cartridges, the printer doesn't recognize the new type - either way.
